About the Church
St. Mary and St. Abanoub Church was established in the 1990s to serve the growing population of Coptic Orthodox Christians in the Leeds and York area. In 2008 the Church covers the following areas: (where the congregation reside)
- West Yorkshire (Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Halifax)
- North Yorkshire (York and Malton)
- East Riding of Yorkshire (Hull)

The church is part of the Diocese of Ireland, Scotland, North East England and its affiliated areas. As of 2008, under the supervision of H. G. Bishop Antony, the church services about 70 families and individuals, and produces numerous activities that include: weekend and weekdays masses, Bible studies, Hymns class, vespers prayer and praises and a youth meeting.
